The gorgeous 'Olena plant contains much healing Mana (spiritual energy). In old Hawaii it was ceremoniously used as a purifier. The crushed roots were mixed with seawater and sprinkled on places to remove negative energies.

'Ōlena is a member of the ginger family. The many healing powers of the root include: relief of earaches, clearing the sinuses, diuretic relief and acne treatment. It also enhances the immune system and purifies the blood. Additionally 'Olena is used as a perfume and to make dye and tea.

The magical Mana of the beautiful 'Olena plant inspired the creation of Menehune girl Pua 'Olena, the Hula Dancer.

With a big smile on her beautiful face Pua 'Olena chants and dances to the sacred beat of her Ipu Heke. She honors the magical healing Mana (spiritual energy) of the 'Olena plant, which she is named after.

Her chants and graceful movements tell stories about the wonders of nature, the creation of the world and much more.

Pua Olena's dance contains a magic that conveys the spirit of Aloha.

Pua Olena wears a green grass skirt with a green and purple top and matching short pants. She wears flower leis around her head, wrists and ankles. She holds a miniature Ipu Heke.

Pua Olena is a 10” tall cloth doll who was individually handcrafted on the Big Island of Hawaii with the greatest love and respect for all that is Hawaii.
Her body is made out of doll skin, stuffed with high quality poly fill and wired for flexibility. The legs are jointed. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face.

Hani's best friend and greatest teacher is the ocean.

When the surf is up, Hani runs down to Punalu’u Black Sands Beach. She can’t wait to get into the ocean. Her heart dances with Hopupu (excitement) as she eagerly anticipates the challenges of the great waves. 

Hani loves the Pacific Ocean and the surf has been her greatest teacher, evoking deep respect and humbleness within her. She knows that every wave presents a challenge of going with its flow. Hani watches the waves, feels them inside, and connects to their Mana (spiritual energy).

She flies along the sea on her Olo (surfboard), riding the waves with focus and balance. Hani finds the perfect attitude between tension and flexibility and rides the great wave home. It is the very best feeling in the world.

Surfing is magical; it has become her way of life! Hani is a Goddess in the surf!

Hani wears a green bikini with a pink sea star crystal on her top. Her Lauhala hat protects her from the sun and is surrounded by a pink feather lei. She carries her wooden surfboard decorated with a pink Plumeria flower and a map of the Hawaiian Islands.
