Kahiki and 'Olena are named after their favorite food the pineapple. As a big surprise, Tutu (grandmother) made them gorgeous pineapple Hula outfit, because Kahiki and 'Olena just love dancing the Hula.

The sacred drumming of the Ipu Heke (gourd drum) echoes across the 'Aina (land) as Kahiki and 'Olena dance and chant with the Akuas (spirits) of the Ohia Forest.
The graceful movements of their hands and bodies tell stories about the wonders of nature, the creation of the world and the traditions of the Hawaiian people.

Kahiki's and 'Olena's Hula attunes us to spirit and gladdens the heart.

Kahiki’s and 'Olena's Tutu is their Kumu Hula (Hula Teacher). She taught them all the powerful movements of the Hula.

Tutu also hand crafted Kahiki’s gorgeous pineapple Hula outfit. She sewed a pineapple pattern double Pa’u Hula skirt with a matching top and crocheted a pineapple headdress.

Tutu also hand crafted ‘Olena’s gorgeous pineapple Hula outfit. She crocheted a yellow top and bikini pants, a pineapple headdress and put a matching belt around ‘Olena’s Ti Leaf skirt.

Tutu handcrafted a necklace, wrist and ankle leis out of Kukui nuts, which represent spirit revealing itself, inner light, hope and renewal.

All these precious things were Tutu’s gifts of Aloha (Love) to her beloved Mo’opuna Wahines (granddaughters).

Kahiki is a 10” tall cloth doll who was individually handcrafted on the Big Island of Hawaii with the greatest love and respect for all that is Hawaii. Her body is made out of doll skin and stuffed with high quality poly fill. The body is wired for flexibility. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face. 'Olena is 4" tall.

Kuki dances happily down the mountain with a big smile on her face. She chants:

Kuki has wrapped a traditional secret Ho'okupu (gift) in Ti leaves. It is a magical treasure which will fulfill somebody’s most heartfelt desire.

Sweet as the cookie she is named after, Kuki is a dancing Hawaiian Christmas Elf.
Kuki’s Tutu sewed the traditional Pa’u hula skirt, matching top and elf hat with a Christmas design. Tutu also made Kuki’s red pointy elf shoes.


Tutu wove her Mana and Aloha into Kuki’s white feather Haku (head lei), wrist and ankle leis. In Hawaii the Hulu (feather) is believed to link to the divine.
Last she draped a conch shell necklace around Kuki’s neck.

The Ho’ano Ohana enhances the Christmas spirit with their enchanting grace. They also can be placed as a centerpiece and embrace your home with the Aloha spirit of Hawaii all year long.

Standing in a precious coconut crèche under the shade of two palm trees, Malia (Virgin Mary) lovingly watches over her baby Iesu (Jesus), who is contently nestled in his nut cradle. Iokepa’s (Joseph’s) sacred Puna (coral) staff symbolizes feelings of deep inner peace and happiness and announces the birth of Iesu, the greatest of all blessings. 
Iesu, Malia, Iokepa and the coconut crèche are wearing a green halo of the Hawaiian Hulu (feather) lei, which is believed to link to the divine. 2 coral plants radiate Pono (harmony) throughout the coconut crèche.
Pua'a, the pig, Honu, the turtle and Pueo, the owl have gathered to adore the sweet baby.

In the Aloha spirit of Hawaii, the dolls, animals, coconut crèche and accessories were intricately handcrafted with the greatest love and respect for this sacred event.

Malia and Iokepa are about 3” tall fitting in the palm of your hand. The bodies are made out of stretch cotton and wired for flexibility. Iesu is about 3/4" tall. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto their faces. Malia, Iokepa and Iesu have tiny little hands and feet, ears, buttocks, and belly buttons.

Pueo's and Honu's bodies have been sewn out of faux fur and partially crocheted with embroidery thread. Pua'a was sewn out of faux fur.

The coconut for the crèche was selected from palm trees at Punalu’u Black Sands Beach. It is hand carved, sanded, polished and fit to a custom pine wood base.

The top is adorned with a sea shell lei and a shining silver sea star.

All dolls, animals and accessories are pinned and or glued to the coconut crèche.
All accessories were individually handcrafted.

The sacred drumming of the Ipu Heke (double gourd) echoes across the 'Aina (land) as Kumu Kaulana (Celebration) chants and calls upon the Akuas (spirits).

The Kaona (hidden meaning) enhances the mystic of Oli (chant) and Hula. The knowledge and traditional practices have been passed on for generations within Kumu Kaulana’s Hula lineage.


In her Halau (hula school), Kumu (teacher) Kaulana passes on and teaches this source of knowledge to the Olapas (dancers). Her Olapas are Kumu’s daughter Ku’uipo and her Kaukinis (cousins) Kealani, the Haole (white) girl and Lihi.

Hula and Oli come from the heart. They mirror the beauty of nature and radiate Aloha.

The harmony of Ipu Heke, chant and Hula attunes to spirit and gladdens the heart.

Hawaiian gourds grow on a vine. Kumu Kaulana picked 2 of the most beautiful ones for her Ipu Heke (double gourd). She cleaned and polished them, put them together and wrapped a Kukui Nut lei around the center.
Kumu Kaulana blessed the Ipu with Hawaiian salt and special prayers. The Ipu Heke is sacred now. Only Kumu Kaulana is allowed to touch it. The Ipu Heke is a manifestation and Kinolau (body form) of Lono, the Hawaiian God of Peace.

Kumu Kaulana, Ku’uipo, Kealani and Lihi wear matching costumes: double red and white Pa’u skirts, tops and panties with a Hibiscut flower design. A Kukui Nut necklace adorns their necks.

The green feather leis around their heads, wrists, and ankles are made for the Ali’i (royalty) and believed to link to the divine.



Kumu Kaulana has black and grey streaked hair.



Ku’uipo has curly black hair.



Kealani, the little Haole girl, has straight brown hair.



Lihi has blue eyes and straight black hair.
