Keoki (Alive) and Hani (Joy)
The Tiki Hut Aloha Celebration
Birth Date: Lanuali 21, 2023 (01/21/23)
Keoki and Hani embrace us with Aloha and happiness!
Keoki and Hani are having the most joyous celebration in their Tiki hut!
The enchanting sound of Keoki’s ukulele echoes across the 'Aina (land) as Hani dances the Hula.
The graceful movements of Hani’s hands and body enhance the stories of Keoki’s songs.
With honesty, kindness, humbleness and in harmony with their true selves,
Keoki and Hani live in the spirit of Aloha.
Keoki just came back from surfing in the ocean and his surfboard is leaning against the bamboo pole of the Tiki Hut. Two Tikis are watching over everything and a big ripe Kahiki (pineapple) is resting on one of them.
Keoki’s and Hani’s Tutu (grandmother) sewed Hani’s Pau Hula skirt and top and Keoki’s Lavalava (Wraparound). Tutu wove her Mana (spiritual energy) and Aloha into Hani’s green and yellow feather Haku (head lei), ankle and wrist leis and Keoki’s neck lei. The Hulu (feather) lei is believed to link to the divine.
Hawaiian gourds grow on a vine. Tutu picked the most beautiful one for Keoki’s and Hani’s Ipu. She cleaned and polished it. Last she strung a Kukui nut lei and wrapped it around the Ipu. Kukui represents inner light, hope and renewal. Tutu blessed the Ipu with Hawaiian salt and special prayers. The gourd is sacred now. Keoki’s and Hani’s Ipu was created for them and only they are allowed to touch it.
All these precious things were Tutu’s gifts of Aloha (Love) to her beloved Mo’opunas (grandchildren).
