Lamaku o ka na’auao
The torch of wisdom

Lamaku happily walks through the beautiful Hawaiian Ohia forest, cherishing all he sees, hears, and feels. Wonderful and exciting things keep happening. Everywhere he goes, he is greeted with kindness and abundance: the sun warms his body, the birds sing their most beautiful songs, flowers open to embrace him with their sweet scent.

Lamaku feels the joy of victory over all obstacles and the wisdom of enlightenment.

Lamaku’sTutu (grandmother) crafted his beautiful headdress and adorned the center with a Leho (cowrie shell) and crystal. She draped a sacred necklace made out of Kukui nuts and Lehos around his neck.

Leho shells invoke the protection of the spirits in connection with the strength

Tutu made Ti leaf anklets and a Ti leaf skirt for Lamaku.

Namaka, the Spirit of Water, Hawaiian Goddess of the Sea

Namaka and Pele, Sisters of Water and Fire

Namaka, the Goddess of the Sea rules over the cool, majestic waves of the ocean. Her spirit lives within the water and the sacred creatures of the sea.

Namaka’s sister Pele, the Volcano Goddess gives birth to new rock formations and land with her hot lava and flaming spirit. Namaka cools the lava with her healing waters allowing it to become newly birthed lands.

According to ancient legend, Namaka was married to the mighty sorcerer, Aukelenuiaiku. She was so impressed by his warrior spirit that she taught him her magical powers.
But Aukelenuiaiku was seduced by beautiful sister Pele. He betrayed Namaka by taking Pele as his wife.
Overcome by rage, Namaka sent high tides and floods to destroy Pele’s home. Pele and her family fled, but could not escape her sister’s wrath. Everywhere that Pele opened a crater for her volcanic fire to rest, the smoke would signal Namaka of her whereabouts.
Namaka’s jealousy towards Pele has been said to cause riptides, swells and tsunamis.
Namaka followed Pele throughout the Hawaiian Island chain, until Pele finally settled in the high mountains of Mauna Loa, which were too high for the ocean’s waves to reach. Pele became more confident and started battles with Namaka.

To this day, Pele’s lava flows thick and hot untill it reaches the cooling waters of the sea — symbolizing the match in strength between the sisters of fire and water.

Pele is mesmerizing with her fiery display of explosive lava and energy, Namaka sends the ocean’s swells to the Hawaiian Islands’ shores. Summer in Hawaii brings waves for the south shore, while winter months guides the surf to the islands’ north

Waves break by her force. Surf generates at her call.

Namaka is often portrayed as the fierce goddess of the sea and feared for her power to create strong tides that destroy land. But she is also to be treated with respect.

Look for the face of Namaka in the ripples of waves lapping against the shore
or in the foamy surf of the sea!
Every wave you see, every sacred creature of the ocean reflects the spirit of Namaka.

Let the healing Mana of Namaka’s waves wash over you!

Where I live, there are Rainbows

Maile, the Lei of Eternal Love

In Hawaii Maile leis represent the umbilical cord to the spiritual world.

Offering a Maile lei has been and still is of great cultural significance to the Hawaiian people. Weaved into the lei is the Mana (spiritual energy) and spirit of Aloha of the artist. Draping a Maile lei around a person is a significant gesture of love, honor, and respect.
Maile leis are rare and considered the most precious of all leis. The native Hawaiian vine, with shiny fragrant leaves and bark grows in the upland forest. The long lasting lei is made of the stems and leaves in an open ended horse shoe fashion reaching from around the neck to the legs.

“Eia la he 'ala, he' ala anuanu, he ala hu'ihu'i, eia la i ka houpo
Here is a fragrance, a cool fragrance, a chilling fragrance that goes to my heart.”

In old Hawaii Maile was used for peace treaties. Rival chiefs would meet in a heiau (temple) to weave a Maile lei. After completing the lei peace was declared.
Maile is also considered sacred to Laka, the Hawaiian Goddess of Hula. To honor Laka, Maile is offered at her altar during hula dances.
At weddings Maile leis are often used as a symbol of eternal love.

The various significant meanings and uses of the sacred Maile lei inspired the creation of Menehune Baby Maile.

Maile, the Menehune Baby
Birth Date: Nowemapa 3, 2022 (11/03/22)

Maile’s Mana (spiritual energy) helps us to reconnect with our spiritual origin, the eternal presence of love within and all around us.
Maile is named after the traditional Maile Lei which in Hawaii represents the umbilical cord to the spiritual world. Maile is the lei of eternal love.
Maile just left the spiritual world and her memory and connection to her origin are very strong. The deep inner knowing that she is always taken care of fills her with trust and love.
The Menehunes are chanting softly to Maile:

“Eia la he 'ala, he' ala anuanu, he ala hu'ihu'i, eia la i ka houpo
Here is a fragrance, a beautiful fragrance that goes to my heart.”

Maile is an 8 months old Pepe (baby) and the Menehune’s Keiki Punahele (beloved child). Surrounded by her Ohana’s (family’s) Aloha, Maile lies contently in her coconut cradle sucking on her thumb.
The Menehunes rejoice in her sweet innocence. They love her and always watch over her, nurturing her with warm baby milk whenever she is hungry.
Sometimes at night, even Volcano Goddess Pele comes to watch over the precious baby for a while.

Maile invites you to enter her sacred space so that your beauty can unfold
like the precious leaves of the Maile lei.

Maile’s Tutu (grandmother) wove her Mana and Aloha into the Maile and Puakenikeni flower lei which surround the top of the cradle.
Tutu crocheted white panties for Maile and matching booties which she adorned with 2 tiny green crystals. Last Tutu stuck a green bow with a crystal into Maile’s hair.
All these things were Tutu’s gifts of Aloha for her beloved Mo’opuna (granddaughter).

Maile is about 3.5” tall fitting in the palm of your hand. The body is made out of doll skin and wired for flexibility. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face.
Maile has tiny little hands and feet, elf ears, buttocks, and a belly button.

The coconut for Maile’s cradle was selected from palm trees at Punalu’u Black Sands Beach. It is hand carved, sanded, polished, and fit to a custom coconut base. All accessories were individually handcrafted.
Maile is not a dress up doll. All clothing and accessories are sewn and/or glued onto her.

Doll care: Gently brush the dolls and their clothing with a soft toothbrush to remove dust. Always brush the faces and bodies upwards towards the hair. Do not brush the hair!

Maile is a one of a kind display doll handcrafted by Hawaiian Dolls. She comes with her story, her cradle and a certificate of authenticity. Maile is a collector’s items bringing you the spiritual power of Hawaii.
Every part of Maile has been lovingly handcrafted to create a new friend who will last a lifetime.
