The Tiki Hut Celebration

Keoki (Alive) and Hani (Joy)

The Tiki Hut Aloha Celebration

Birth Date: Lanuali 21, 2023 (01/21/23)

Keoki and Hani embrace us with Aloha and happiness!

Keoki and Hani are having the most joyous celebration in their Tiki hut!

The enchanting sound of Keoki’s ukulele echoes across the 'Aina (land) as Hani dances the Hula.
The graceful movements of Hani’s hands and body enhance the stories of Keoki’s songs.

With honesty, kindness, humbleness and in harmony with their true selves,
Keoki and Hani live in the spirit of Aloha.

Keoki just came back from surfing in the ocean and his surfboard is leaning against the bamboo pole of the Tiki Hut. Two Tikis are watching over everything and a big ripe Kahiki (pineapple) is resting on one of them.

Keoki’s and Hani’s Tutu (grandmother) sewed Hani’s Pau Hula skirt and top and Keoki’s Lavalava (Wraparound).
Tutu wove her Mana (spiritual energy) and Aloha into Hani’s green and yellow feather Haku (head lei), ankle and wrist leis and Keoki’s neck lei. The Hulu (feather) lei is believed to link to the divine.
Hawaiian gourds grow on a vine. Tutu picked the most beautiful one for Keoki’s and Hani’s Ipu. She cleaned and polished it. Last she strung a Kukui nut lei and wrapped it around the Ipu. Kukui represents inner light, hope and renewal. Tutu blessed the Ipu with Hawaiian salt and special prayers. The gourd is sacred now. Keoki’s and Hani’s Ipu was created for them and only they are allowed to touch it.
All these precious things were Tutu’s gifts of Aloha (Love) to her beloved Mo’opunas (grandchildren).

Keoki and Hani are a 4” tall cloth dolls fitting in the palm of your hand. They were individually handcrafted on the Big Island of Hawaii with the greatest love and respect for all that is Hawaii.

The bodies are made out of doll skin, stuffed with high quality poly fill and wired for flexibility. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face giving the doll a unique personality. All accessories were individually hand crafted.

The Tiki Hut is crafted out of a coconut shell, wood, bamboo and raffia. It has a circumference of about 20” and is about 10” tall.

Keoki and Hani are not dress up dolls. All clothing and accessories are sewn and/or glued onto them.

Halemaumau

Aia lā ‘o Pele i Hawaii ‘eā

Ke ha‘a mai lā i Halemaumau ‘eā

‘Ūhī‘ūhā mai ana ‘eā

‘Owaka i ka lani, nokenoke

Ē Pele ē Pele ē.

Pele is in Hawaii

She is dancing in Halemaumau

She rumbles and mutters

Flashing in the heavens, on and on

O Pele, Pele.

E Ala E!

Arise, Awake, Rise

Pele’s presence, energy and beauty surges in Halemaumau crater of Kilauea right now. Her presence is undeniable as the glow of lava consumes the night sky.

She dances, puffs and blows as she rises in beautiful fountains and billowing waves throughout the giant Halemaumau crater of Kīlauea. The drama of this creation is a celebration and spectacular wonder to behold.

Sharing our home with with Pele, we must have a dancer’s balance, flexibility, and feel for a land whose very nature is change.

Sometimes the chaotic nature of life is a celebration of beauty, vigor, and challenge.

Pele’s spectacular dance inspired the creation of Hawaiian Art Doll Pele.

Aloha e Pele! (Greetings, Pele!)
The Ohana (family) clap their hands, jumping up and down with excitement as soon as Pele emerges from the sacred Ohia forest.
Pele always brings the most fascinating news about the flaming spirit of Hawaii’s Volcano Goddess hurling fiery ribbons of lava down the mountain slopes, giving birth to new rock formations and land.

Pele carries a Bamboo Pahu (staff) with a flame of Kilauea Volcano surrounded by sacred Ti leaves. The flame embodies the light of spirit, knowledge and life.

Gifted with a passionate spirit, Menehune girl Pele was named after Hawaii’s Fire Goddess.
Pele’s Tutu (grandmother) wove her Mana (spiritual energy) and Aloha (love) into Pele's yellow Haku (head lei), wrist and ankle leis. Tutu also sewed Pele’s volcano dress.

Pele’s abundant black and red hair cascades down her back like the lava flow on the mountain slope.
