The magnificent Puna (Coral) is a gift from the ocean.
Coral is believed to have great magical and medicinal Mana (spiritual energy). It is the stone of passion and healing. Coral provides protection from illness and harm. They look just like rocks, but reefs are alive. Corals give them their structure, offering habitat and food to the many fish, lobsters, octopus and crabs. The 500 different species of algae growing on the Hawaiian coral reef provide food and life-sustaining oxygen for all marine life. Algae provide more oxygen than all land plants worldwide combined.
Many of the plants, fish, and invertebrates found in the Hawaiian coral reef are endemic to Hawaii . In old Hawaii reef fish provided the people with protein and are still considered a delicacy today.

Puna is about 4” tall fitting in the palm of your hand. The body is made out of stretch cotton and wired for flexibility. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face. Puna has tiny little hands and feet, ears, buttocks, and a belly button. All accessories were individually handcrafted.
Doll care: Gently brush the dolls and their clothing with a soft toothbrush to remove dust. Always brush the faces and bodies upwards towards the hair.

Puna's gift to you is his precious bamboo coral staff. Puna reflects the coral's great magical and medicinal Mana (spiritual energy).
Puna is a Ho'ola (healer). Walking along the shores of the magnificent Punalu’u Black Sands Beach, Puna searches for the gorgeous corals, he is named after. When the signs are right and the spirits permit, he gathers the corals. Chanting a Pule (prayer) to give thanks for the gift, Puna cleans the corals in the ocean water and merges with their Mana.
She wove a Maile Haku (head lei) for Puna. Maile represents the eternal presence of love within and all around us. Last she wrapped a sacred coral amulet around his neck.
All these things were Tutu's sacred gifts of Aloha (Love) to her beloved Mo’opuna Kane (grandson).
